Kelly Thesier, de la página oficial de la MLB, reporta que los receptores Drew Butera y Wilson Ramos de los Mellizos de Minnesota podrían hacer el grado durante el Training si el también receptor Jose Morales, actualmente lesionado, no se recupera a tiempo para iniciar la temporada.

El manager Ron Gardenhire ha indicado que pudiera dar chance a Ramos. "Sé que Butera tiene buen guante y brazo" y agrega sobre el tigrero: "Estoy realmente interesado en Ramos. Fue importante para su equipo en Venezuela. Ha adquirido experiencia sobre algunos picheos. Es alto, fuerte, tal vez su salud pudiera ser un problema, pero estamos hablando del puesto de "backup" de Joe Mauer."
